🐸🌿 Young Environmentalists Helping Wildlife Thrive at Gosforth Junior High Academy🌿🦎 There's always something exciting happening in the Forest School at Gosforth Junior High Academy, where students are playing an active role in supporting local biodiversity. Following ongoing environmental improvements to the school grounds, students were delighted to discover a frog visiting their renovated pond, alongside a smooth newt. These exciting sightings are a wonderful indication that the habitats students have helped to create are providing a welcoming home for local wildlife. Through hands-on outdoor learning, students are developing a deeper understanding of ecosystems, conservation and the importance of protecting the natural world. Their efforts are helping to create a thriving environment where nature can flourish. A huge well done to all the students and staff whose dedication is making a real difference. 🥁 Last month, Jesmond Park Academy's talented Steel Band Performance Group had the honour of opening a fundraising event organised by Curvy Sounds at The Old Coal Yard in Heaton. The students performed a varied and challenging repertoire, ranging from Beethoven and Dolly Parton to traditional Caribbean music and ABBA. They played with huge enthusiasm and confidence, thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to perform alongside a fantastic line-up of local musicians, including Emma Doenge, Nev Clay, Scot Hepple, Uberloon and an acoustic set from Maxïmo Park. The event raised funds for the Northumberland Wildlife Trust's Rothbury Estate Appeal, including a raffle for a bespoke guitar made by event organisers Jess and Andrew Mills.
