25 March 2026 Great Park Academy Year 9 Students Visit Oxford
Our Year 9 Great Park Academy pupils are currently enjoying an inspirational trip to Oxford, designed to strengthen their confidence, communication, and curiosity.
The trip forms a key part of our Trustwide commitment to developing strong oracy skills, giving pupils the opportunity to speak, present, question, and explore in one of the world's most historic centres of learning.
Throughout the visit, pupils have delivered their own presentations, toured Jesus College, explored the city of dreaming spires, and taken part in handson learning at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History and the Pitt Rivers Museum.
The trip has provided unforgettable experiences that encourage ambition, broaden horizons, and help pupils see themselves as future leaders, thinkers, and university students.

Kindness in Action: Inspiring Students in Our Trust These two superstars have won this year's Gosforth Academy Kindness Award. The award started last year and gives Gosforth Academy staff and students the chance to nominate students who have performed an act of kindness, however small, in school or their local community. Bruce D and Oliver M, both in Year 9, recently helped a member of the public who collapsed in the street in Gosforth by making sure they were comfortable, reassured, and that an ambulance was called. The voting panel selected these two students because of the bravery and community spirit they both showed. They displayed our school values and are an absolute credit to our community! #gosforthgroup #creatingfutures #gosforthacademy #RoleModels #YoungHeroes #CelebratingKindness #ProudOfOurStudents
View PostNorth Gosforth Academy Celebrate Culture Week With Creativity This week, our pupils in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 have taken part in a beautiful Culture Week project celebrating friendship, languages and global community. Students created origami butterflies, each carrying a handwritten message of friendship in a different language. These butterflies will soon take flight to the Newcastle Civic Centre, where they'll form part of a public exhibition in April. Our pupils have shown fantastic creativity, teamwork and cultural appreciation, we can't wait to see their hard work proudly on display! #northgosforthacademy #gosforthgroup #CreatingFutures #StudentCreativity #GlobalFriendship #LanguagesMatter #ProudSchool #CelebratingCulture

View PostNational Schools Squash Finals 2026 – Outstanding Success for Gosforth Academy! Earlier this month, our squash teams smashed it at the National Schools Squash Finals. Five of our six squads advanced to the quarter finals, with standout performances across all age groups. Highlights: KS3 Boys & Girls: Both teams made the finals after hardfought semifinal wins. Narrow 2–3 defeats in both finals, with some incredible individual battles. KS4 Girls: National Champions! A brilliant 3–2 win over favourites Kenilworth secured the title, our seventh girls' title in seven years. KS5 Boys: Strong 5–0 QF win before facing worldclass opposition in the semi and 3rd/4th playoff. Gosforth Academy finished as the best-performing school across all categories. Beyond the results, we're incredibly proud of how our students represented the school on and off the court. A huge thankyou to Richard Vitty for his ongoing voluntary support. Your contribution has been vital to our national success. #GosforthAcademy #SquashNationals #SchoolSquash #CreatingFutures #GosforthGroup #ProudOfOurStudents #SchoolSuccess
View PostOutstanding Achievement from Gosforth Academy's Football Team! Huge congratulations to Gosforth Academy's Year 10 boys' football team, who have delivered an exceptional season of success. After an unbeaten East League campaign, scoring 20 goals and conceding none, they went on to claim the historic Exhibition Cup and secure the title of Regional champions. Their resilience shone through in a tight semifinal decided by penalties, followed by a superb 3–1 win in the final. Their teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship have been exemplary throughout. The team now looks ahead to the City Cup semifinal and County Cup final as they continue an already remarkable season. Well done to all involved - an achievement the whole Trust can be proud of! #ChampionMindset #YouthFootball #TeamSuccess #ProudOfOurStudents #gosforthgroup #gosforthacademy #creatingfutures
View PostNorth Gosforth Students Take On the Anthea Bell Translation Prize! Last week, North Gosforth Academy's Year 10 Spanish students worked hard to compete in a national translation competition called the Anthea Bell Translation Prize for young translators. They each had to translate a passage of text from a book as creatively as they could and decorate their entries. The top 5 entries were sent off to be judged, and we will hear back at the end of May about the results. Good luck to all our amazing Year 10 students who, every lesson, consistently work incredibly hard. #AntheaBellPrize #CreativeTranslators #SpanishLearning #NorthGosforthAcademy #GosforthGroup #CreatingFutures

View PostCelebrating Outstanding Achievement Across Our Trust! We are incredibly proud to share that Isaac, a talented pupil from Great Park Academy, has been recognised at this year's Newcastle University Science Fair. Over the past few months, Isaac has been dedicated to developing an innovative project that uses AI to support neurodivergent individuals in understanding the subtle and sometimes hidden meanings within language. This thoughtful and impactful idea, brought to life through hard work, creativity, and technical skill, truly impressed the judges. For the second consecutive year, Isaac has returned from the Science Fair, which brings together schools from across the region, with an award. This year, he received the Special Recognition prize for a project that stood out for its purpose and originality. Most importantly, Isaac shared that he thoroughly enjoyed the experience - and we know his family, school, and the whole Gosforth Group community are incredibly proud of everything he has achieved. #GosforthGroup #CreatingFutures #InspiringStudents #STEMInnovation #TrustProud #GreatParkAcademy
