Gosforth Group Chief Executive Officer

Gosforth Group

Role: Chief Executive Officer

Salary: £163,894 - £183,478. Starting salary is negotiable dependent on experience.

Start Date: September 2024

Gosforth Group is a vibrant cross-phase multi academy trust comprising six academies in the North East of England. The Trust was established in 2010 and now has around 6000 students, aged 9 to 18, over 600 school-based staff and strong executive and corporate services teams. With the planned retirement of the existing CEO, trustees are looking to appoint an inspirational and aspirational CEO to provide the strategic leadership that will sustain, develop and grow the Trust, improving the life chances of all its children and young people.

Gosforth Group is a values-based organisation where every child and young person is important, staff are valued, and everyone is encouraged to reach their potential. The simple vision is to educate, support and nurture all of the students so they can achieve their potential and fulfil their ambitious aspirations. The new CEO must be committed to the Trust’s student-centred values and vision and have the ambition to build on the strong foundations taking it forward into its next exciting stage.

The role offers a rare and rewarding opportunity for an exceptional leader to make a real difference to the future of education within the North East. The Trust plays a key role in the local area and has excellent relationships with the DfE, LA’s and Regional Director. You will lead a high performing and committed executive leadership team, including executive leaders, corporate services and academy Principals.  Some experience of working in the education sector is essential and you must have highly developed interpersonal skills with the determination and drive to embrace the ethos of the Trust’s school improvement work. After successfully opening two free schools in 2021 the Trust is keen to grow further by attracting schools which share its values and where there can be mutual benefit.

This is an exciting time for the Trust and the new CEO. If you are an ambitious leader with the ability to plan strategically and translate that into effective operational practice, then this is an outstanding opportunity to lead the future development of the Trust.  The successful candidate must be passionate about improving student’s life chances through the provision of the highest quality of education and have a proven track record of working at a strategic level as part of a senior management team implementing service improvement. You will be a highly motivated individual with a positive, can-do attitude and the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of audiences. You will have the creativity and vision to inspire and lead change together with the focus to ensure successful outcomes are reached. Importantly, you must be committed to the educational vision and values of the Trust.
