Collaboration That Changes Lives

Joining Gosforth Group as a Member means contributing to the long‑term success of a growing, values-driven multi academy trust. Members play a limited but essential statutory role, providing independent oversight to ensure the Trust remains strong, accountable, and focused on improving outcomes for our children and young people.

What Members Do

Members hold the highest level of oversight within a multi academy trust and are fundamental to strong governance.

As a Member, your responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the achievement of the Trust’s objectives

  • Appointing Trustees and the external auditor

  • Holding the Board of Trustees to account for the Trust’s overall performance

  • Approving changes to the Articles of Association, which set out how the Trust is run

  • Ensuring the Trust’s charitable objectives are met

Members meet periodically to review strategic direction and governance effectiveness but are not involved in day‑to‑day governance or operational decisions. You will also participate in the Trust’s Annual General Meeting.

Why Become a Member of Gosforth Group?

1. Make a Lasting Difference

Members provide a crucial layer of independent accountability. Your statutory role is clearly defined, purposeful, and manageable, ensuring the Trust remains true to its mission and continues to deliver real impact for our children and young people.

2. Bring Your Expertise to the Table

Our Members bring independence, objectivity, and valuable experience.
Whether your background is in education, finance, HR, law, business, community leadership, or another field entirely, your insight can strengthen our governance and help the Trust thrive.

We welcome individuals who bring constructive challenge and a commitment to educational excellence.

3. Join a Forward‑Thinking, Values‑Driven Trust

Gosforth Group is ambitious, collaborative, and deeply committed to high standards.
As a Member, you will be part of a governance community that:

  • Supports innovation
  • Upholds clarity and integrity
  • Places children and young people at the heart of every decision

Members help safeguard the Trust’s future and ensure it continues to serve its communities with purpose and accountability.

Who Can Become a Member?

Our members come from a wide range of professional and personal backgrounds.
What they share is a belief in the transformative power of education and a desire to contribute meaningfully, even in a role that does not require day‑to‑day involvement.

If you can bring independence, insight, and an interest in supporting a high‑performing trust, we would welcome a conversation.
